Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

All 5 decided to come and say Hi after we fixed the fence. All looking good.

Hi there, following on from Sue's comments, I was over there today and at 11:30 and also noticed the big Oak tree branch fallen in D15, now laying across the road/track, no immediate concern but will need attention is obstructing the road/track. I called Guy at 11:40 as I also notice the fence cut in F12 which I believed did need emergency attention so Guy & Mike arrived very promptly at 12:00 to meet me on site. We also looked at the fallen branch in G11 but this does not need immediate attention but may fall onto the fence at a later date.  Many thanks guys & nice to meet you at last :-)

    Tuesday 29 October 8:40 am

All cattle standing quietly in H4, looked fine.

I walked the perimeter fence.  No damage to the fence or gates.  I removed some small branches.

But the following probably need attention in due course.

H9 - Oak branch diameter 20cm hanging, it will damage the fence if it falls
D15 - Large oak branch 45cm diameter hanging, blocking the path near the trough (but missed it when it fell) - looks dangerous.
N2 - Silver birch 20 cm diameter resting on the railway fence, tree on railway side but I could not push it off
G3 - Two trees down on lane by the railway.

    Late site visit

Called in on my way home to clear up a small Silver Birch which had fallen over the fence on the Eastern fence line. It was dark time I got there so couldn't check the cattle. Thanks for your help checking in the blustery conditions and do take care still as some trees, that have stayed up, might have been weakened by the wind and wet ground.

The Girls were in I8 & 9 at 11:50, heads down eating away, Not bothered by us at all this morning. Up close we did comment at how well they all looked at the moment apart from Morag who looked liked she could do with a good wash & brush, bless her.

    Saturday, 19 October 2013

No sighting this morning but they must have been around A, B, C, D, E (4, 5, 6, 7) as I didn't managed to search this area. Am not concerned as I saw them all yesterday lunchtime on the track by the water trough & they all looked fine.  Sorry but limited for time this morning.

    Tuesday, 15 October 2013

    Tuesday 15 October 8:45

All walking along the lane from N2 towards car park.  Moving at a fair pace, all looked fine, apart from Daisy who was bringing up the rear and each of her steps looked laboured.  When the others stopped to graze she just plodded on as if she knew that it would be difficult to catch up if she was left behind.

    Wednesday, 9 October 2013

I have left a VM for Elliot and called the office and spoke to Laura at 1pm.  I was over walking Rosie this lunchtime, turning the corner in G13 at 12:50, I thought, oh bless there they are, then I spotting someone running away from Jericho who started trotting quite quickly towards her. I quickly put Rosie on her lead and walked towards a couple who were in there mid 30's, wearing dark jackets, they had a small terrier like a Scottie off the lead. when I approached them I asked what it was they were feeding them, they said carrots.  I said, please don't feed them as they have enough food here. they then just said, carrots are ok and started walking off in the direction of where I came from.  Trouble is the cows obviously liked the carrots as they started to get quite close to me and then followed the couple down the track. I cut inside and walked back up through the meadow and found the girls right by the cattle grid in C16 but no sighting of the couple who I guess carried on walking down the track. I have never seen this couple before but just wanted to make everyone aware.

    Wednesday 09 October 2013

Found all cows together in J3 all looked good Bambi Crumple and Daisy laying down Jericho and Morag standing.
Hello all.  I will be away this weekend so unable to check on the Girls Saturday & Sunday so please feel free to add a post if you are around. I'm back on the 19th.  Many Thanks

Tuesday 8 October 2:20 All there

All present and correct K11.  Daisy sitting, others standing, all looked fine.

Two police vehicles just leaving when I arrived, apparently there has been a report of a person trying to steal dogs.

Tuesday 8 October 8:45 (Daisy missing)

Jericho, Bambi on path Morag and Crumple in the wood, I8.  I COULD NOT FIND DAISY.  Will look again this afternoon.

    Saturday, 5 October 2013

Lovely to see the Girls up ahead of us when we started our walk this morning.  At 8:30, we followed them slowly as they walked up the track from J13. At quite a pace they were going too (except for poor old Daisy who was lagging behind, she looked stiff while dragging her legs slowly) they eventually came to stop & ate what they could around the very far cattle grid in C16. Apart from Daisy's slowness & all the burs on Morag, all looked fine.

    Wednesday, 2 October 2013

    Wednesday 02 October 2013

Found cows spaced out in F4-G4 heads down munching away happily, all looked relaxed and happy.

    Tuesday, 1 October 2013

    Tuesday 1 October 15:10

Jericho, Crumple and Bambi hiding in C5, Morag and Daisy by the gate B4.  All looked fine.  Morag is still covered in burrs. I have never seen them right down there before.  Daisy was eating the nettles outside the fence, she was expert in maneuvering her head and horns through the barbed wire.

I looked for a hour first thing this morning but I don't know where they were hiding.  I thought they must be somewhere as I spotted them in K7 yesterday evening.  About 15:40 today they were all making their way across the path E5, grazing on the short grass.

Tuesday 13th August - All Cows Off Site

Hi All,  We've moved the 3 cattle down the track to Pondtail now.  Thanks again for all your help keeping an eye on them.  Best wishes  ...
