Emergency Procedure
If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:
NOTES:
Thank you!
- Call the office on 01256 381190.
- If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
- Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.
NOTES:
- Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.
- If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.
- Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.
Thank you!

All 4 in Wood near trough. Met John G just before leaving.
Gave them some nuts bits and had a good look over them. And looking very well they were too. Good condition, no concerns. Lovely nuthatch in the tree all the while. And met a couple walking their dog demanding that I watch Autumn Watch about the Jays! H
Got it on I player to watch later 😉
No need to Blog today then John 😁

Tuesday Afternoon
All the cows were out in the middle the heath spread out grazing. I rattled the bucket and gave them a shout and they came running over for some nuts.
All seemed fine.

All well
The 4 were again enjoying chestnut season by the trough - all eating chestnuts and looking well.
Bad weather on it's way, or not!
Cattle obviously don't believe the weather forecast, as they were standing (one lying) in the copse at C15 between the track and the fence for the common, today at 12:40. It looks as though they've got into shelter, ready for heavy rain and strong winds (which are due on Thursday), with the trough nearby for when they get thirsty.

All fine this afternoon.
Similar to Joanne's visit on Tuesday I found the cattle eating sweet chestnuts near the trough this afternoon. They were all looking fit and well.
I had a look at the trough and it should be fine. It has been shaded out for a lot of the summer by the surrounding bracken. More light is hitting the water now as the bracken is dying off so some algae has started colour the water up. We'll keep an eye on it and sort it out if it starts to look like it's going bad.

Today at 2pm
All four foraging and munching on sweet chestnuts in front of the water trough. Their coats are getting quite shaggy now, well the younger more than lola. All seem a well. I love the yearly sound of them munching chestnuts. Water trough is working OK but is looking very green indeed. X
