Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Thursday, 28 February 2019

Looked yesterday at 3.30. Found all three looking quite fit and healthy in G5. All three grazing on the heather and young trees. Trough full and working OK.

    Sunday, 24 February 2019

At 0945 hrs all 3 in I12. Teasel lying cudding, the boys browsing heather.  All fit and well.  Trough OK.  But, some twonk has fly-tipped a truck load of garden brash on the tarmac road into the car park!

    Thursday

All looking well, put out a lick near the recent fire site from the volunteers.

    Sunday, 17 February 2019

At 0930 hrs an easy find today.  All 3 on the main track in I9 browsing gorse.  All fit and well.

    Tuesday, 12 February 2019

    Tuesday 12th February.

All looking good today. Looks as though Teasel is in season as 67 was showing lots of interest and mounting.

Dropped off a new lock on one of the woodlands, they attacked it straight away.

    Trough ok.

    Sunday, 10 February 2019

Mid morning Teasel in I12 by a lick but the boys over in N13 taking bramble and very brown oak leaves off a small tree.  Teasel and the boys often seem to be separate now.  All fit and well.
No show. Sunday 10th. Walked around the main field - no sign of cows. Laying in gorse maybe?
    Trough clean and working.

    Tuesday, 5 February 2019

Lick dropped J9/J8 in the bracken about 15m from the track.

Boys and Lola doing very well, good condition for the time of year. Didn't wolf down the lick as soon as it hit the deck either which is a good sign.

Trough full. Stuck a long stick in it just in case it does ice over anytime soon.

    Sunday, 3 February 2019

Found Clever Clogs in J10 then Cronus in M10 at about 1000 hrs. They looked a bit out of condition. No sign of Teasel.  Did not check the trough but saw a Trust rep in the pick-up at the entrance gate and reported all this.

    Saturday, 2 February 2019

Looked today at 2.30. All three cows among the trees around G6. Grazing on the gorse. Checked trough and removed some thick ice. Noted the water was running in OK - no frozen pipes.

Tuesday 13th August - All Cows Off Site

Hi All,  We've moved the 3 cattle down the track to Pondtail now.  Thanks again for all your help keeping an eye on them.  Best wishes  ...
