Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 29th April.

They were down by the main car park this afternoon all on fine form and looking well. I put a lick out in the nearby woods which they got stuck into straight away.

    Monday, 27 April 2020

    Monday 27th April.

They were in the NW (B4) corner of the site this morning - the two steers had their heads through the fence and were nibbling at some fly-tipped garden waste.

Landmarc kindly took the waste away while I replaced a couple of fence posts that got snapped as the cattle pushed on the fence.

All three looking fit and well. #67 has a tiny cut about his right eye which was probably from pushing through the barbed wire. I had a good look at it and it is very minor so nothing to worry about.

    Saturday, 25 April 2020

Took a walk at 3.30 today. Found all 3 grazing among the trees in G6. They seem quite happy chewing off the new green foliage on the shrubs. No problems.

    Saturday morning

    All 3 grazing happily today

    Friday, 24 April 2020

    Friday 24th April.

Found the cattle in I12 this afternoon, vocal as ever. I put a fresh lick out for them there but they ignored that and followed me back to the vehicle!

All looking fit and well and trough ok too.

    Wednesday, 22 April 2020

Walked today: Found cows in G12 grazing on fresh tree laves and gorse. Checked Teasle's - "mark". It was just her normal coloring - black spots on rear legs. Sorry Guy looked odd on my pictures!!
    Trough OK

    Tuesday, 21 April 2020

Gloriously sunny day on Bramshot Heath. The herd were thirsty and hovering around the trough

All looking well. Checked Teasel and couldn't see any concerns with her legs and she was moving fine, certainly didn't stop her hoovering up the bluebells on the other side of the fence. I know they do it but watching them makes me nervous! 😉 Fence is still up. Check!

    Monday, 20 April 2020

Went walking Sunday at 3.00. Found all 3 around the trough grazing on little bit of grass around there. All moving OK, no sign of any problems. Trough full.

    Late Post
Did not notice this until i checked my photos:
    Teasle 088

Then close -up of rear leg - worth watching?

    Friday, 17 April 2020

    15th/16th April.

Paid the cattle a visit on Wednesday and Thursday and they doing really well. I put a fresh lick out for them on Wednesday close to the large pine in the SE corner of the site. They were huddled around it on Thursday too and all looking well.

    Trough working ok.

    Monday, 13 April 2020

Walked this afternoon at 3.00. Found the cattle in F5 lying in the dead bracken soaking up the sun. All three quietly chewing cud. They looked quite content - no obvious problems.

    Saturday, 11 April 2020

    Tuesday, 7 April 2020

    Monday 6th & Tuesday 7th April.

Checked the cattle yesterday afternoon and this morning.  All three looking well with no signs of injury.

Put a fresh mineral lock out for them this morning.

    Trough ok.

The new fence has been cut already - next to the large gate so I'll report this to Landmarc.

    Friday, 3 April 2020

Took our exercise today at 2.30. unable to gain entry to site on Bramshot Lane as the new gate was padlocked and the fence now stops access through the old gate. The contractors were working near the roundabout end of the lane - are they stopping all access from that side. We parked by the railway bridge and walked from there. Found cows conveniently in H4, clever clogs (67) grazing among the trees the others laying in the patch of sun chewing cud. No problems. Checked trough - full and working OK.
Will exercise again next week if allowed to.

    Thursday, 2 April 2020

    Thursday

About 19:00 all three tucking into a bit of fallen Scots pine near to the trough end.

    All looked fine.
Took our exercise yesterday at 2.30: Found all 3 in J6 laying in the dead bracken chewing cud. They looked quite fit and healthy, no obvious problems viewed from 20ft. Would have sent photo but phone went dead. Maybe next time.
