Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

     Took an inch of ice off the trough.  Cows on the move but eventually found not far from the railway bridge entrance eating fallen leaves. All well.

    Found all 3 eating gorse around W3W: illogical.topmost.member at 11.30am. All looked well and remarkably clean!

    The trough is frozen over with quite a thick layer of ice which I was unable to break. There are a couple of small areas where there is access to the water, but it's basically not usuable today.

    All 3 attempting a drink through the ice in a boggy area, but sunning themselves too! W3W: illogical.topmost.member  All looked fine.

    Trough frozen over so I broke through the surface and removed some large pieces of ice.

    Teasel had a slightly weepy eye, but it looks like she has been rubbing her head in the soil so should be fine.

     Saw #160 on main track up from Hartland Wood entrance then was led by him to the other 2 in the centre of the area. All grazing among gorse and bracken. All look OK as far as I could see.

    All 3 eating heather just inside the track at W3W: pocketed.fronted.auctioned at 11.15am. I think Caledonia has a tick - top of left front leg, between folds of his neck skin. Quite difficult to see.

    Sunday again

     After Lioness disappointment I found all 3 cows lying in the shade cudding. Teasel is fine. Flies being a bit pesky for all.

     Found the 2 boys but no sign of Teasel.  Evan has 2 minor grazes on his belly. Eye looked OK. Trough OK.  May try again later/after the match to find Teasel.

    Evan seems to have a red mark/scar underneath near his back left leg and some discharge from his right eye. Other than that all OK.

    Found Teasle on her own which was very unusual - at W3W: trifling. unclaimed. towers. Looked around but the others were nowhere near. Checked the trough and there they were!

    Caledonia seems to have a 'watery' stain at the top of his back left leg. Possibly has a cut underneath him somewhere that I couldn't see as he was lying down.

    The flies were a nuisance but not as prolific as last week. I could not see a Sheep Tick on the left side of  Evan. All three seemed well.
