Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Tuesday 30th September - Staff Check

All three girls guzzling acorns this afternoon by the water trough and looking well.

    Tuesday 30 September

Found then under a lovely arch of privet and laurel trees.

216 and 105 were content, but Greta (225) was scratching her rump up against a branch all the time I was there. From what a could see she did look a little dirty around her back end.

Friday 26th September - 114 taken off site back to farm for udder treatment

    Hi All,

We've taken 114 back to our farm in hook to treat for summer mastitis, thank you so much for keeping an eye on her and letting us know in good time.

    Best wishes
    Grazing Team

Friday 26th September - Udder update

Dyers Weed's udder now has some bleeding and is looking quite red. I would think she needs some attention.

Weds 24th - check for swollen udder

Bonus staff check to look at 114's swollen udder. It is very enlarged, but it doesn't look red or inflamed. She also doesn't seem bothered by it.

If people checking over the next few days could keep an extra eye on it that would be great. I've attached some photos below of what it looks like at the moment - if you notice it getting more red or looking inflamed, and/or notice a change in behaviour (stamping and kicking more, less relaxed) then let us know via the blog, and we will make a decision on whether she needs further treatment

    Thanks all!

Weds 24th Oct - still enlarged udder

All four grazing together at lunchtime today, near ///grad.requiring.forms.

114 still has the enlarged teat Michael saw on Sunday (pic below). All were being a bit bothered by flies but seemed content.

Sun 21st September- cows being worried by dogs

All cows sitting by the southern cattle grid but being worried by 2 dogs off the lead. Female put dogs on lead eventually but was very abusive to me. Cows looked OK once the dogs had gone.

    Enlarged teat

114 has one of her 4 teats enlarged. No sign of weeping or discharge that I could see. The other’s look good hovering up acorns

    Friday 19th September

All 4 found in the woodland area, near the railway track at 11.00am, W3W: skipped.debit.regress

Delia, (108), seems to have several ticks around the udder area on her left side - see photo. Probably at least 6.

Ginseng, (216), and Dyers Weed, (114) were bothered by lots of flies. So many I thought they were markings at first!
