Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

All 3 munching grass in the sunshine at ///pilots.abundance.dries.

Dyers Weed's udder still distended and sore looking but she doesn't appear to be bothered by it.

Tiny flies around all 3's udders today.

    Tuesday, 17 March 2026

    Tuesday, 10 March 2026

    Tuesday 10 March

Found in corner Fleet pond/railway side. Grazing on brambles, especially Dyers weed(114) who has some caked blood on udder, teat still swollen, seemed ok. 225 lying down chewing her cud. 216 grazing contentedly.

    Monday, 9 March 2026

    Monday 9th - Staff Check

Found the three girls in the more northern cleared area. I gave them a lick, which they enjoyed a lot. Having just said to not worry about 114's udder, when I saw her today it looked cut and was weeping, so have updated the grazing team again. Keeping us on our toes this one!

    Friday, 6 March 2026

    114 Udder Update

I have spoken to the Grazing Team again about 114's udder. It is likely, as it has been swollen for a while and unchanging, that it is just a bit bigger now. If it changes drastically then please do let us know, but otherwise it should be fine.

    Thank you all

    Friday 6th March

All 3 sheltering under some trees at /// tricky.bottle.spaceship as it was very wet.

Dyers Weed, (114), still has a swollen and reddish teat, (front left), but other than that all fine if a little soggy today.

    2.00pm.

    Wednesday, 4 March 2026

    Friday, 27 February 2026

    Friday 27th February

All 3 easily found today, chewing the cud and dozing at /// stand.baker.toads

All lying down so couldn't see any udders to inspect!

All three together near WTW ///caked.steady.stole.

Ginseng and Greta doing some sunbathing, before Greta got up to headbutt Dyers Weed.

Her udders do look a bit swollen, but not much redness that I could see. She walked off into the deeper gorse after Greta arrived.

Other two looking well. All were up and grazing on the dry bracken when I left.

    Tuesday, 24 February 2026

    Tuesday 24 Feb

    Monday, 23 February 2026

    Udder on 114 slightly enlarged

Munching away in unforcast drizzle. All good but 114 of the chambers on 114 looks slightly enlarged we should keep on eye on it.

    Wednesday, 11 February 2026

Weds 11th Feb - all good

All 3 hanging around together near the water trough, Dyers Weed having a good drink.

Ginseng seemed to be guarding the cattle grid, even tried to follow the lady in front of me out the gate. Her collar didn't seem to be giving her any bother so perhaps the perimeter is not quite synced to the GPS?

By the time I looped back round they had moved on and were happily grazing along the fence line further up.

    Tuesday, 10 February 2026

    Tuesday 10 Feb

Thank you for your continued support

    The grazing team

    Tuesday 3 Feb

114 and 216 were up near the digger, munching away. I couldn’t see anything on 114s udder.

Came across 225 afterwards, she was frisky and mooed.

They all seemed to be ok.

    Monday, 2 February 2026

    114 blood on udder

Zoe reported seeing blood on 114 udder can we keep on eye out for this. I couldn’t see any today but they weren’t making it easy deep in the undergrowth

    All good

     Happy watching the chopping

    Sunday, 1 February 2026

Sunday 1st - Report of dogs

Received a call from a member of the public, saying that a group of men with dogs were in the Fleet pond/Hartland Country Park area, harrassing and chasing wildlife. Called the police, who were already aware and at the scene. Came by anyway and ran into Michael, who hadn't seen anything untoward other than Landmarc trucks driving around. The cattle looked fine, if a little excitable, so looks like the men didn't make it into Bramshot at least. Didn't get any further calls about it so hopefully that was the end of that and the police sorted it.

Attempted to re-align the wonky posts, hopefully the cows stop using them as scratching posts!

    All good

If very soggy watching the Landmarc trucks running around in hope of being feed

Fence push over to 45 degrees

Fence at ///suiting.beefed.chop looks like they have pushed it over now at 45 degrees   Still keeping them in

I am unable to 'look' for the next two Fridays but should be back on 20th February.

    Wednesday, 28 January 2026

    Weds 28th - all good

All three together and grazing near the water trough. All looking well.

Map had them all over the place but they were together and all had their collars, so perhaps just a bit slow to update.

    Tuesday, 27 January 2026

    Tuesday 27 Jan

Found 3 soggy cows along the path Fleet pond side.  All sedately eating gorse, seemed fine.

Tuesday 20th January - Staff Call Out

Sean and I attended site this morning at 9.00am as several reports of cows being out.

When we arrived the girls were all back in but the kiss gate at ///fatigued.kennels.partners was on the floor leaving a cow sized exit point.

We have stapled the gate shut using plain wire and put an 'out of order' sign on it.
Will arrange proper repairs when back in office with diary.

We will be back this afternoon to replace collar batteries

All girls looking well and very vocal.

    Monday, 19 January 2026

Monday 19th Jan - contractors onsite + collars

    Hi all,

Contractors onsite this week cutting scrub.
They will be here all week. Cows will likely be in this area all week as they are having a fire which cows love.

Batteries flat in collars, trying to get date in diary to replace them but wont be this week. Back to old fashioned ways!

    Zoe

All three seen - All good

Workman cutting down sliver birch, made finding them easier this morning. Any unusual activity is a magnet to them.

    Batteries failed

The batteries have gone flat so back to hide and seek !

Yes sorry! Trying to get a date in the diary to change them, wont be this week though. Back to the old fashioned ways.

    Saturday, 17 January 2026

    All good but different behaviour

All three stood still by the water trough occasionally mooing, some chewing of cud but missing 108 may be …… moved looking out over the gate and cattle grid almost looking for a way out quite unusual behaviour

    Friday, 16 January 2026

    Friday 16th January - 108 taken offsite

We've taken 108 back to farm for treatment.
Due to time constraints we were unable to change collar batteries today, apologies.
Will try and get a date in diary for this and let you know soon but it may be a while 😵‍💫

    The other 3 all fine
Have a good weekend and thanks again

    Note about 108

Hi all, we are coming out on Friday to round up the girls and decide on course of action for 108 (treat onsite or remove and take back to farm)
We will take this opportunity to reinstate collars and change batteries too.
Thank you for your lookering support.

    Cheers
    Zoe

    Weds 14th - 108 on her own

Couldn't find 108 anywhere so rung the office, but did then spot her lying half under a tree on a final lap at ///flanked.shippers.surprised. She's very well hidden!

No obvious sign of injury but she didn't make any effort to move when I approached and is holding out her rear right leg straight and curled up on the others.

Other three all fine, eating together just around the middle path.

Alice has said they're planning on coming out to see her on Friday, just in case anyone has troubles finding her tomorrow too.

    Tuesday, 13 January 2026

    Tuesday 13 January

Found cows out in the open, 108 was on her own, definitely struggling. The other 3 all seemed fine and were curious.

    Saturday, 10 January 2026

    Friday, 9 January 2026

    Friday 9th January

All 4 chewing the cud at ///dearest.casually.juggles at 11.50am. All look fine.
Dyers Weed, (114), had some foaming at the mouth whilst chewing, but that may be normal?
Everything defrosted now so plenty of water to drink.
Only 1 cow showing up on the grazing map.

    Wednesday, 7 January 2026

    Weds 7th - only 3 seen

Went at lunchtime today. Trough not frozen over but full of ice so I fished out all the big bits.

Girls grazing in the middle of the site in the hedgerows. Three white ones together and look well. but couldn't see Delia through the bushes.

Warning for tomorrow - the wet grass has frozen solid and is really slippery in some patches, so watch out!

    Tuesday, 6 January 2026

    Tuesday 6 Jan

Found all 4 separately grazing in the gorse and

snow. All look fine. Looks lovely. Checked trough which was frozen and took out some ice, then 2 came down for a drink and a Robin too.

    Monday, 5 January 2026

    All good

Molly and I were out anyway, all looking good in the weak sunshine

Monday 5th Jan - Trough + Staff Check

Alice and I were onsite this morning to check trough and girls.
Thank you for breaking the ice on it,
We had a go with the sledgehammer and sifted out the ice
All four girls looking very well this morning

    Saturday, 3 January 2026

    Friday, 2 January 2026

    Note for Saturday Lookers

Hi all, hope you've had a pleasant Christmas and New Year. Just a quick note to ask if the Saturday lookers would be able to smash and remove any ice in the trough, as its meant to be a cold night. We will be up on the Sunday to defrost the pipes

    Thanks as always

    Friday 2nd January 2026

All found eating gorse and looking good. ///smoke.processes.breaches @ 11.00am.

Cleared the trough of some ice.

    All good

     All happy munching
