Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

Call the office on 01256 381190.
If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

Tuesday 11th August

Found all 3 by the trough, grazing away. Teasel's neck is looking better, with a slightly weepy eye.

Trough slow filling but good.

Checked at 11.30 before it got too hot. Found all 3 laying in the scrape at M4. Very dry and dusty but they did not seem to mind and were also putting up with a lot of flies.

Checked trough - full but really dirty.

Friday afternoon

All 3 by the water today. 067 had a lot of flies around the eyes but no obvious signs of NF eye, maybe just the heat.

6th August - Lord (and Lady) of the Flies

Location: Liquid.resolves.gears L13

Cow: 075

Summary: lots of flies around him. Did not seem too worried and gave the occasional shake of the head

Eyes/Ears/Back : Right eye looked a bit red, everything else fine inc hoofs

Cow : 088

Summary: Lying down and cudding. Large amount of flys around nose/ears but no sign of distress

Eyes/Ears/Back : all fine bar flys

Cow: 067

Summary: sitting and cudding. flies across the whole area but seems unfazed.

Eyes/Ears/Back: all looked fine

I found them all up by the large military gate at N13. All seemed fine.

The trough was full.

Bramshot herd doing fine and all found around the trough.

Trough full and muddy, by all accts due to owners allowing their dogs to cool down/wash in it. Fleet Pond had Blue Green algae from what I hear so we may be seeing more traffic here.

Found all three in the scrape at M4. Clever Clogs (067) grazing on his own. Teasle (088) and Cronus (075) laying in the dust of the scrape. All looked quite happy, not so many flies, no obvious problems.
Trough full - working OK.
