Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    (Very)Late Post!

Apologies for the late blog post - old age convinced me that I had already done it, one reading the blog I obviously hadn't!

I checked in on the cattle on Tuesday morning and found them in J3, laying down in the woods near the railway line. They got up and came over as soon as they realised I was there.

All three were looking fit and well. I took a look at the lumps and they just look like insect bites but we'll keep an eye on them regardless. A couple of cattle on some of our other sites have similar lumps at the moment. They usually last quite a while but will eventually go down and disappear.

Found all three in H6 at 7.00 pm. Grazing on grass and young gorse bushes. All moving through the bushes and no sign of any problems. Teasel still has the lumps on the right foreleg and two or three smaller ones on the shoulder. Checked trough - full and working OK.

All lying in a huddle cudding in M11 at 0930 hrs.  All looked well but could just see that bigger lump on Teasel's leg still, but the smaller ones seem to have reduced a bit.  However, they do not seem to be a problem.  Trough OK.

Saw cows at 12.00 grazing in J12. Lump on Teasle's right foreleg, as reported by Alan, is still there. They all seem quite contented, plenty of new grass for grazing.

At about 1330 hrs all 3 in L15 grazing.  Teasel has one large lump and 2 smaller ones on her right foreleg, Clever Clogs seems to have one developing on his right flank too. Brushing it gently with the back of my hand, he flinched.  Trough OK.

At 1345 hrs they were I8.  Teasel browsing hazel and the boys grazing.

All good but not seen 114 up

Two of them up and munching today, still haven’t seen 114 on her feet. She was repeatedly licking her front left leg and no amount of gentl...
