Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Crumples eye

    Hello all,

I understand a number of you are concerned about Crumples eye and the fact that it is still weeping.

The grazier went and looked at it last Thursday and could not see any problem so put it down to a scratch or some dirt in the eye.  However the latest looker report is suggesting that the eye may appear to be swollen so I contacted the grazier again today to request they take another look.

They said they would go out tomorrow with some medications for various problems and give any treatment as required.  Hopefully this will help reduce the weeping.

I will also be on site at some point to deliver a new blue block of mineral for them.  The grass is now going to start to stop growing as the days are getting significantly cooler.  This changes the chemistry within the plants so it is important that the cattle have access ti all of the minerals they may need, hence the mineral lick.

I was asked today how much longer the cattle would likely stay on and I gave as precise and answer as possible.  It will likely be end October to the beginning of November.  If we have a wet and warm autumn it will likely stretch out, if we have a cold and dry autumn then this will likely come forward.  that is the best I can offer but I know you will all miss them.
