Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Friday 2nd March - Water Situation.

After Jo's call to Guy I went over to Bramshot Heath to sort out the water situation. I scooped a load of the slush out of the trough which left them quite a bit of water available.

There is also a large scrape around L6/M6 which holds a lot of water at this time of year (more like a pond!) so I broke up a load of the ice covering this so that the cattle could access the water.

There's now plenty of water available for them and I'll be out again to double check and re-break the ice if required. Looks like it is going to be mild tomorrow with rain moving in tonight so hopefully it'll all thaw out quite quickly.

Jo, thanks for reporting the water shortage. It shows how quickly they can deplete a trough full once the supply freezes up.
