Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Just had to blog today!
On the return leg of our walk this morning at around 7:30 we walked past the trough (all ok) to be confronted by one of the cows coming towards us. One of my JRT’s is quite yappy so we stood aside to let the cow pass. Further down the path, another was coming towards us, again we gave it room to pass. Then I thought, how strange, the third was no-where to be seen.  We carried on walking, onto the track/road out off the woods and then this massive mooing noise coming from further down the track, it mooed another 3 times! I’m guessing it was calling for the others?
Made my day!  never have I heard any of the cows moo in all the years I’ve volunteered lol

    Wednesday 29th May

Found the cattle in M5 this afternoon. All on fine form as usual.

    Trough working ok.

    Monday, 27 May 2019

Checked at 1.30. Found Clever Clogs and Cronus grazing on new shrubs in K11, K12. No sign of Teasel. Searched around but unable to locate her - possibly laying down among the bushes. Checked trough, OK full and working.

    Late post....

I cycled through early yesterday morning and saw 3 just off the main concrete path way at the top.  All appeared well.  Quite a bit of fly tipping garden waste.

    Wednesday

It took me a while to find them today.  I drove round once but couldnt see them so headed out toward Pond Tail to look there.

When i came back after another lap I took a walk into the more wooded area down back past the car park and found them tucked into the scrub there.

    All fine.

    Tuesday 30th April

I was on site around 9.15 am

I found one of the three near the trough but the other two were no where to be seen so I watched where this one headed.  It went off towards the car park through the woods so i skirted round that way.  The other two were indeed down on the main track in through the car park.  I gave them all some nuts and the other one arrived just as i was finishing putting them out.

They all look good if a little skinny but hopefully that will begin to change now as the grasses all start to really grow.

Tuesday 13th August - All Cows Off Site

Hi All,  We've moved the 3 cattle down the track to Pondtail now.  Thanks again for all your help keeping an eye on them.  Best wishes  ...
