Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Found the cows at around 11.30 this morning - missed Jack. All 3 grazing in I12 looking fit and healthy. Teasles udder still looked red and the neck wound had flies around - not apparently bothering her. Checked trough-  full and working OK.
Saw a small grass snake, about 6 to 8 inches long,  alongside the path in G5. Coiled and hid in grass when we approached.  Photos attached, (foot to show size) it was quite small.

    1. Hi John,

Nice job spotting such a small snake when it's lurking like that. It is in fact an Adder though not a Grass snake - the zig-zag pattern along the length of the body is main identifying feature. Nice find.

      Rich.

    2. Lucky I didn't try to pick it up!! It was moving accross the dusty path heading for greenery and I was tempted to help. Hope it made it OK.
