    Tuesday 21st December

Found the three cattle in typical noisey and excitable mood in the middle of the site today.

All looking well, trough working fine.

    Friday, 27 December 2019

    Friday morning

All seemed fine today and water good too. 067 being s little anti social staying around 50m away from the others:

    Tuesday, 24 December 2019

    Monday, 23 December 2019

Blogging for Harry. All found at the centre of the site and cross roads.

Dropped off a lick under the 2 large pine trees. They were 'quite excitable' when they saw the truck 😉

All Good, one slightly thinner than the others but nothing concerning.

    Saturday, 21 December 2019

    Thursday, 19 December 2019

    Wednesday

The three of them were tucked away in the woods near the car park. Of course this was the last place I looked for them. Trough good. Cows good.

Gave them some nuts and put a lick down.

    Sunday, 15 December 2019

Found Teasel in the woods in L4 - she looks well - but I could not find the boys anywhere.  Trough OK. A single mattress has been fly tipped in the car park.

    Saturday morning

All seemed well and munching happily. Water also fine

    Tuesday, 10 December 2019

    Tuesday 10th December.

All three looking well today, found them close to one of the areas that the contractors recently cleared.

    Trough working ok.

    Sunday, 8 December 2019

After weeks of "hard to find" they were an easy spot today on the track at the bottom of K5 seemingly just enjoying the winter sun.  All 3 welcomed a head rub and look very fit and well.

    Saturday, 7 December 2019

Couldn't find them today despite a couple of laps around the area. Did notice the thermal cup is still at the trough though!

    Tuesday, 3 December 2019

All spotted (or rather they spotted me) in K14 Just inside the newly managmanaged area.

Dropped off a lick here near a pile of cut bracken. All look and seem in good health. Had a chat with a couple dog walkers who all spoke very highly of the herd. One chap had a 9 month old Visla, springy lil ball of energy! Np around cattle; )

    Lovely, crisp and sunny day.

    Monday, 2 December 2019

Eventually, I found them in that area in the centre that has recently had the scrub cut down and burnt - that is hidden from everywhere around it - all 3 fit and well.  Trough OK, though iced over a bit.

    Friday, 29 November 2019

    Friday morning

Found all 3 next to a couple of gardening vans - they had chased them thinking they would be fed.
All looked fine, one small area of shorter hair on Teasel's neck. About 2cm in diameter, not sure if it's anything but thought I'd note it in case:

Also found a thermal cup at the trough, is this anybody's?

    Monday, 25 November 2019

    No Changes for TB Testing

In the five minutes since my previous post plans have changed and there will be no changes on BH for TB testing! The usual three will remain.
    Cheers,
    Jack

Spent over an hour around the area but no sign this morning. Trough OK.

    Saturday, 16 November 2019

    Saturday morning

All except this guy munching pretty deep in the bushes so couldn't get the closest look but they seemed fine from a few metres away. Water full too

    Tuesday, 12 November 2019

    Tuesday, 5 November 2019

    Sunday, 3 November 2019

Today at 1100 hrs all strung out between O10-14 in the woods and not that easy to find.  However, all fit and well.  Trough OK too.

    Tuesday, 29 October 2019

    Saturday, 19 October 2019

    Saturday morning

Found Teasel and 067 well and celebrating England's win in Japan this morning. Couldn't find 075. They were on the edge of the thick bushes so suspect he was in there. Had a look around but couldn't see him.

    Sunday, 13 October 2019

All found next to the trough on a very wet afternoon.

Met up with Alan tosort out that tree and  pop in a couple posts. Thanks again for that Alan. All sorted!

Animals looking thier usual, fine, selves. No apparent injuries or marks to see Antoni so must have been mud or minor  wound.

    Monday, 30 September 2019

    Monday morning

11am - all seemed well and trough fine too. I did notice some sort of mark on 067's sheath and it was attracting some flies. Didn't seem to bother him but I couldn't get close enough to see exactly what it was. Photo below.

    Sunday, 29 September 2019

1500 hrs. Fence partially down due to large fallen tree over it in B7.  Chain saw job to remove.  Could not find cows anywhere but do not believe this was due to fallen fence. Trough OK, however.

    Saturday, 28 September 2019

Found them all relaxing - laying in the grass in K15. Did'nt disturb them as they all looked quite happy chewing cud. trough full and working OK.

    Thursday, 26 September 2019

    Thursday 28th

The three were al lurking in the woods close to the car park. All looking good drove up to check the trough.  They followed me all the way up.

    Friday, 13 September 2019

    Friday afternoon

Saw the 3 at 4.30pm today. Teasel and 075 were fine but 067 wouldn't come out of the ferns to let me get a good look. Waited 15 mins but he didn't move from the position shown below

    Wednesday, 11 September 2019

    Saturday, 7 September 2019

    Saturday morning

9.30am: Found them eventually tucked away behind lots of vegetation. They later came out to where I could get a better look and all doing well. Teasel's udder and wound looking ok.

    Thursday, 5 September 2019

    Wednesday

Found the herd in the middle of a gorse patch at the top end of the site the other end from the car park.

Called them out with some nuts.  All were fine.

    Sunday, 1 September 2019

All stood serenely by the trough at 1100 hrs.  Teasel's udder looked fine.  Boys OK, as was trough.

    Friday, 30 August 2019

    Fly sprayed

After a long search eventually found all of them and have sprayed for fly and ticks.

    None seen

    Thursday

On site about midday.  They herd were all by the trough which was full.  Small cut on Teasel looking like tis healing well.

    All fine otherwise

    Thursday, 29 August 2019

    Fly sprayed

All three have been sprayed and looking good. Would looks fairly good as well.

    Monday, 26 August 2019

Found the cows at around 11.30 this morning - missed Jack. All 3 grazing in I12 looking fit and healthy. Teasles udder still looked red and the neck wound had flies around - not apparently bothering her. Checked trough-  full and working OK.
Saw a small grass snake, about 6 to 8 inches long,  alongside the path in G5. Coiled and hid in grass when we approached.  Photos attached, (foot to show size) it was quite small.

    Teasel’s wounds Sprayed

I have had a look at Teasel this morning and given both the udder and neck a spray. They both look like they are healing so this should speed up the process and try and keep away a few flies. Naturally 67 immediately had a fashionable blue quiff going on. Thanks, Jack

    Sunday, 25 August 2019

At 0815 hrs today all 3 near the main gate/on the tarmac track. Boys OK. Teasel has a graze on right side of her neck that flies were swarming around, as they were round her udder but that looks OK now.

    Friday, 23 August 2019

Had a late walk at 7.30 pm. Saw both boys in D5 moving towards G5. No sign of Teasle. Both boys looking healthy and moving OK, both  mooing, trying to find mum?
Trough full. Gate with inner tube modification working OK.

    Wednesday, 21 August 2019

A good looker session with a nice chap named Antoni.

Teasel's wound looking a lot better which was nice to see. The boys were their usual vocal selves as soon as they caught sight of the truck! All behaved well, local dogs not so much..

Picked up a bridal gate ling handle thats lost a bolt for the pedestrian gate closest to the railway. Not closing properly. Wacked on an inner tube to ensure the gate at least closes for the time being.

    Tuesday, 20 August 2019

    Tuesday 20th

Spotted them a couple of times this morning but specifically at 8.30 when they were in our path in H11, the boys on the path and Teasel in the trees. Couldn’t get too close with the dogs but they all appeared to be fine with heads down. Trough checked too and all ok

    Monday, 19 August 2019

    Monday 19th August.

Checked in on the cattle today and they're all doing fine.

Teasel's udder is healing well. She has got a lump right on the back of the udder too which looks like another insect bite as it has a sore patch on top. It looks like she's really being picked on by the biters this summer!

    Trough working ok.

    Sunday, 18 August 2019

At 1400 hrs today all cudding near the trough.  Teasel was lying down.  I didnt get her up to check her udder, she seemed fine.  Boys OK. Trough OK.

    Friday, 16 August 2019

    Thursday, 15 August 2019

Checked all again today - found in M6 - Teasel looks fine, as do the boys.  Trough OK.

    Wednesday, 14 August 2019

    Udder update

Rounded up this morning, behaved beautifully. No change to condition of udder.  treated with injection and released

    Tuesday, 13 August 2019

    Wound on udder

I have been this afternoon to look at the injured cow on site. We will be back to get her in tomorrow and give her some anitbantibiotics ti help her along and make sure the wound doesn't get infected. After that she will just need no monitoring to watch and make sure it heals Well.

    Tuesday 13th August - Teasel's Injury.

I received a call this morning from Debbie to say that one of the cattle at Bramshot was bleeding from a wound near the udder.

Guy and I visited the site late morning and found that Teasel has got a wound on the back right of her udder. When we checked her the bleeding had stopped but there was a lot of debris around the cut making it difficult to see how serious it is. I managed to get some antibiotic spray onto the wound which will help combat infection.

The wound will undoubtedly receive a lot of attention from flies so we'll be keeping a close eye on her for a while to make sure that the wound heals ok and she doesn't get any further problems.

The grazing team are also going to check her later this afternoon to see if they think any further action is required.
Got a message left for me at home by a neighbour about Teasel being attacked by a dog(??)  Been out at 1430 hrs and found all 3 lying contentedly in L9.  Got Teasel to her feet and saw the blue spray around her udder.  All 3 are OK.

    Sunday, 11 August 2019

At 0900 hrs all, again, lying by the trough.  Cows and trough all OK.

    Wednesday, 7 August 2019

All spotted near the trough and in the wood.

These guys appear to be fairing better than other herds regarding fly agitation. Bramshot - Land of dreams..

    All good with no issues.

    Spotted!

    Mucky...

Teasel's lumps. Reminded grazing team to keep an eye on them. Horsefly or cycst?!

    Sunday, 4 August 2019

Found cudding by the trough.  Teasel standing the boys lying hidden in tall bracken.  All well, though Teasel still has those lumps on her foreleg as Ned mentioned.  They've been the same for weeks now and don't seem to bother her.  Trough OK.

    Tuesday, 30 July 2019

    30th july

All 3 ok. Some bumps on 2088 front right leg worth watching but most likely just bites or being pricked on something.

    Sunday, 28 July 2019

Saw all three at 3.00 in E15, just standing and chewing cud, sheltering in the shade under the trees. They appeared to have just left the trough as it was low but water was filling up OK.
In L9/10 at 1015 hrs taking heather and birch scrub from under the bracken.  All fit and well.  I took a mouthful of abuse from a dog owner who was not picking up her dog's poo.  She was not for listening to the problems it can cause for the cattle!

    Tuesday, 23 July 2019

    Tuesday 23rd July.

Found all three in H5 this afternoon. All on fine form and looking well.

    Trough full and working ok.

    Monday, 22 July 2019

Looked this afternoon at 2.30. Found all three laying in the long grass in M4 chewing cud. Looking quite relaxed in the higher temperature of 25 degrees. Checked trough all OK.

    Tuesday, 16 July 2019

    All looking well

They were a tough find today in the heat grazing well into the woods. All looked well and trough fine.

    Sunday, 14 July 2019

Found easily at 0930 hrs lying cudding by the main track in M9.   All fit and well.

    Friday, 12 July 2019

    Tuesday, 9 July 2019

    Sunday, 7 July 2019

At 0930 hrs all 3 lying contentedly cudding in usual spot (K/L12).  Teasel's lumps still visible but no problem.  Clever Clogs and Cronus both fine.  Trough OK.  Pedestrian gate parallel to railway has lost its handle that allows horse riders to open it. It is on top of nearby fence. Gate still secure, however.

    Saturday, 6 July 2019

Checked this afternoon - 13.00 hrs. Found all three just leaving the trough and moving along the foootpath. They look fit and healthy - no obvious problems. Checked trough - water level down about three inches, cows had obviously had a drink. Water system working OK and trough was filling up.

    Late post

Cycled thorugh yesterday but spotted nothing

    Sunday, 30 June 2019

All grazing furiously at 0900 hrs in K and L12.  Lumps still there on Teasel but causing no problems.  All cows fit and well.Trough OK.

    Thursday, 27 June 2019

    (Very)Late Post!

Apologies for the late blog post - old age convinced me that I had already done it, one reading the blog I obviously hadn't!

I checked in on the cattle on Tuesday morning and found them in J3, laying down in the woods near the railway line. They got up and came over as soon as they realised I was there.

All three were looking fit and well. I took a look at the lumps and they just look like insect bites but we'll keep an eye on them regardless. A couple of cattle on some of our other sites have similar lumps at the moment. They usually last quite a while but will eventually go down and disappear.

    Wednesday, 26 June 2019

Found all three in H6 at 7.00 pm. Grazing on grass and young gorse bushes. All moving through the bushes and no sign of any problems. Teasel still has the lumps on the right foreleg and two or three smaller ones on the shoulder. Checked trough - full and working OK.

    Sunday, 23 June 2019

All lying in a huddle cudding in M11 at 0930 hrs.  All looked well but could just see that bigger lump on Teasel's leg still, but the smaller ones seem to have reduced a bit.  However, they do not seem to be a problem.  Trough OK.

    Thursday, 20 June 2019

Saw cows at 12.00 grazing in J12. Lump on Teasle's right foreleg, as reported by Alan, is still there. They all seem quite contented, plenty of new grass for grazing.

    Sunday, 16 June 2019

At about 1330 hrs all 3 in L15 grazing.  Teasel has one large lump and 2 smaller ones on her right foreleg, Clever Clogs seems to have one developing on his right flank too. Brushing it gently with the back of my hand, he flinched.  Trough OK.

    Wednesday, 12 June 2019

At 1345 hrs they were I8.  Teasel browsing hazel and the boys grazing.

All found among the heath and bracken in I13 just off the track.

All looking very well after their NOT check. Not a rock on'em!

Trough on as working. Had a quick look at the cattle grids there and C16 grid getting full. Will add to a list and report to David when he returns.

Also glad to see the fix up I did in N15 has stayed strong. Must be my diplomatically worded sign and barbed wire?

    Tuesday, 11 June 2019

Went walking at 3.30 and checked trough. all working OK. Found the cows grazing in L5. They look very clean and healthy, no problems. As we were leaving a white van drove along the track from M8 to L3. We thought it was one of ours but obviously not as we went to talk to the driver it just kept moving. The cows also thought it was one of ours and started mooing and bellowing- the boys trotted up to the track also expecting it to stop, hoping for nuts maybe. They looked a bit disappointed when it continued  on around the field - at least they demonstrated they can move at the trot.

    Cattle Returned

Olly and Kurt have just returned Teasel and co after passing their TB test. Thanks, Jack

    Monday, 3 June 2019

    Cows off site

We have taken off the three to be TB tested tomorrow. All going well they should be back on site by Friday.

    Friday, 31 May 2019

    Enjoyed an early

Enjoyed an early cycle through and spotted two ebjoying a bit of brekkie.  Both appeared well

    Thursday, 30 May 2019

    Just had to blog today!
On the return leg of our walk this morning at around 7:30 we walked past the trough (all ok) to be confronted by one of the cows coming towards us. One of my JRT’s is quite yappy so we stood aside to let the cow pass. Further down the path, another was coming towards us, again we gave it room to pass. Then I thought, how strange, the third was no-where to be seen.  We carried on walking, onto the track/road out off the woods and then this massive mooing noise coming from further down the track, it mooed another 3 times! I’m guessing it was calling for the others?
Made my day!  never have I heard any of the cows moo in all the years I’ve volunteered lol

    Wednesday, 29 May 2019

    Wednesday 29th May

Found the cattle in M5 this afternoon. All on fine form as usual.

    Trough working ok.

    Monday, 27 May 2019

Checked at 1.30. Found Clever Clogs and Cronus grazing on new shrubs in K11, K12. No sign of Teasel. Searched around but unable to locate her - possibly laying down among the bushes. Checked trough, OK full and working.

    Friday, 24 May 2019

    Tuesday, 21 May 2019

    Monday, 20 May 2019

    Fly spraying

We have just gone and sprayed the 3 for fly's and ticks. All were looking ok one lost a bit of condition but hopefully will put it back on in with the new growth.

    Sunday, 19 May 2019

Late post from Saturday evening around 7.00 pm. Found all three grazing the new grass along the pathway leading from Bramshot lane at M14. Looking fit and healthy. Checked trough also OK.

    Saturday, 18 May 2019

    Late post....

I cycled through early yesterday morning and saw 3 just off the main concrete path way at the top.  All appeared well.  Quite a bit of fly tipping garden waste.

    Wednesday, 15 May 2019

Trough OK but could not get round area to find cows due to cadet training on-going.  Fly tip near entrance thoughtfully coned-off and signed around!!

    Tuesday, 14 May 2019

    Wednesday, 8 May 2019

    Wednesday

It took me a while to find them today.  I drove round once but couldnt see them so headed out toward Pond Tail to look there.

When i came back after another lap I took a walk into the more wooded area down back past the car park and found them tucked into the scrub there.

    All fine.

    Wednesday, 1 May 2019

    Tuesday 30th April

I was on site around 9.15 am

I found one of the three near the trough but the other two were no where to be seen so I watched where this one headed.  It went off towards the car park through the woods so i skirted round that way.  The other two were indeed down on the main track in through the car park.  I gave them all some nuts and the other one arrived just as i was finishing putting them out.

They all look good if a little skinny but hopefully that will begin to change now as the grasses all start to really grow.

    Tuesday, 30 April 2019

    720pm

All three happily grazing along the central pat of the heath land ,all seems calm ,trough ok. X

    Sunday, 28 April 2019

At 0930 hrs all alongside the track in L13 grazing.  All look very good. No sign of tick blood trails today on any of them.

    Thursday, 25 April 2019

    All good

They were right by the gate when I arrived to see them today - all looking good and trough fine too.
Found all three by the trough at 2.30. Cronus grazing along the path in E14, Teasle and Clever Clogs laying in the sunshine by the trough, chewing cud. All three looking a bit cleaner, no problems. Trough full and functioning OK.

    Monday, 22 April 2019

Tucked away today in C5 at 0915 hrs; just spotted them through all the trees.  All well; just the old signs of ticks on some.  Trough OK

    Thursday, 18 April 2019

Checked at 3.30. Saw all 3 from a distance over the gorse, grazing in L6, No close up inspection but they seemed to be OK. Checked trough - working OK and full.

    Wednesday, 17 April 2019

    Today at 7pm

All three having a lay down in the bracken near the trough. They didn't seem at all bothered by us or the dogs at all.x

    Tuesday, 16 April 2019

Found all 3 near the trough at 7:30 this morning.  Looked fine although (strangely) Teasle was just standing very still by the gate at the end (waiting for it to open lol). I went around the outside of the path so I was the other side of the gate and she came up close enough for me to give her a nice long stroke. She was very brave and not at all bothered by my barking JRT’s lol.

    Monday, 15 April 2019

    Today at 3.10 pm

All three under the rhodidendrum (spelt wrong) by the fist gate from the carpark. Is the cow with the long number (not 67 or 75) Lola? Anyway it let my son scratch her head for ages. They all had blood patches on them from Ticks I assume. They have loads of lo k between their back legs, big ones. Other than that all seems well.  X

Think I just missed Guy today.  Cows by main entrance.  All OK barring some tic blood smears on Teasel and Cronus. Trough seems OK.

All in the wood nearest the Bram car park closest to the railway.

Cronus and Teasel have had some ticks burst on their sides (nice), but aside from that they're looking well.

Grazing team aware of ticks and will treat all reserves together soon.

No problems with the trough as far as I can tell, full up and filling when the stopcock is pulled down.

    Sunday, 14 April 2019

    Today 3pm

Finally found the cows having a lie down by the that runs adjacent to the railway, all seems calm and contented x

    Today at 2.40 pm

I don't think the trough ball cock is working, altho it's full now there seems to be no filling when u put the ball cock down x

    Friday, 12 April 2019

    The 3 amigo doing well

Dropped off a lick which they tucked into with gusto! Not quite there on the grasses. Each have their share of ticks but nothing concerning. All looking well.

    Today Thursday,at 7.45pm

Could only find two of the cows for 15 minutes ,they were standing where the porterloos used to be,then after searching I spotted 75  right over by the railway track fence really quite a distance from the others. I walked and all seems fine x

    Saturday, 6 April 2019

    Today at 7.45 pm

All three munching away on young heather and horse and grass. All came over for a nose scratch. They then followed and chased one of our dogs away. Left them rubbing noses at the and rubbing heads at the top left path on the heath field.x

At 1345 hrs all in line astern on the fence line in E13.  Clever Clogs browsing Woodbine.  He has two bloody marks above his right fore leg but on close inspection they look innocuous.  Cronus and Teasel protesting loudly at the nearby model aircraft flyers - for no clear reason.  Otherwise all well.

    Wednesday, 3 April 2019

    3/4 @7pm

All 3 cows grazing silently amongst the horse half way along the far path through the heath field. All seems well

    Wednesday 3rd April.

Found all three down by the trough this morning. All three looking well although #75 is down in condition. This is to be expected at this time of year but we'll keep an eye on him.

I put a new lick in the woods close to the trough and they all tucked into it straight away.

    Friday, 29 March 2019

    Today at 17.10,

After having only found one cow for a while I finally found the other 2,they are fairly spread out amongst the heath field munching on Heather and horse flower. The smell of coconut from the horse flower is stunning tonight.  All's calm and looking good x

    Tuesday, 26 March 2019

    All fine Monday 25th afternoon

I checked them on the 25th late afternoon and dropped them off a lick. I checked the water trough and that was all good as well.

    Sunday, 24 March 2019

At 0900 hrs all right by the main gate in D4.  Odd place as nothing to eat there. All OK, though Cronus has a slight bloody mark just behind his left fore leg on his belly.  Minor graze or a tick I think.

    Friday, 22 March 2019

I went over there at 8 for a couple of hours...All 3 were together in h6 looking ok. I walked around and checked all gates and fences, all appears ok but I do believe some of the gates could benefit from springs put on them again and perhaps some big signs to say ‘PLEASE close the gate behind you’....

    Cow gone on an adventure

I saw a Facebook post this morning at approx 7:20 saying that a cow had got on the wrong side of the fence (gate left open), just down the path from the main car park, one with a handle and catch apparently the gate was wide open!
At approx 7:30 the cow was safely back where it should have been with the help of a couple of dog walkers.
I believe David is also now aware of this...

    Thursday, 21 March 2019

    Trough ok.

    Sunday, 10 February 2019

Mid morning Teasel in I12 by a lick but the boys over in N13 taking bramble and very brown oak leaves off a small tree.  Teasel and the boys often seem to be separate now.  All fit and well.
No show. Sunday 10th. Walked around the main field - no sign of cows. Laying in gorse maybe?
    Trough clean and working.

    Tuesday, 5 February 2019

Lick dropped J9/J8 in the bracken about 15m from the track.

Boys and Lola doing very well, good condition for the time of year. Didn't wolf down the lick as soon as it hit the deck either which is a good sign.

Trough full. Stuck a long stick in it just in case it does ice over anytime soon.

    Sunday, 3 February 2019

Found Clever Clogs in J10 then Cronus in M10 at about 1000 hrs. They looked a bit out of condition. No sign of Teasel.  Did not check the trough but saw a Trust rep in the pick-up at the entrance gate and reported all this.

    Wednesday, 16 January 2019

    Monday 14th

On Monday afternoon I popped into site and dropped off a lick for the cows.

They were in the middle of the first block of heath and as I was driving up the track on the far side I saw them.

I put the lick in a shallow depression off of the track somewhat to stop it moving around to much.

    All looked fine.

    Tuesday, 15 January 2019

All spotted accross the track in the heather from K10

Dropped off lick in bracken just behind the 6 pine in K10.

Clever Clogs appears the thinnest of the 3 and was the most audiable (as usual) 😉 All looking well aside from that, tis the time of year, we're all getting a lil thinner in Winter, right?

Left them tucking into lick. Trough good.
